I've been thinking a lot about "containment" when it comes to composition. People who know me understand that I am a little bit of a perfectionist so I'm always looking at what final little "tweaks" a painting might need to improve it. Sometimes a few inches off sides can make a big impact, bringing viewer deeper into the artwork and connecting on a more intimate level. First image is a revised image, more "contained", second photo is the original painting....not a huge difference but a subtle compositional adjustment that I feel draws the viewer deeper into the scene. It's all purely subjective and personal preference. What do you think?
